March for Meals 2024 is being led by Meals on Wheels Ontario with support from our sponsor, belairdirect.
ONTARIO, March 1, 2024 – Today marks the launch of the annual March for Meals, a month-long campaign to promote Meals on Wheels programs across the province. This year’s celebrations are being led by Meals on Wheels Ontario, with the sponsorship of belairdirect.
In the last year, Meals on Wheels programs delivered over 3 million meals to over 60 thousand Ontarians. As well as providing nutritious meals to vulnerable seniors and people with disabilities, these programs have been proven to help combat loneliness and social isolation, and reduce the risk of chronic disease.
“The evidence is overwhelming regarding the benefits of Meals on Wheels,” says Deborah Simon, CEO of the Ontario Community Support Association. “At a time when the cost of living has increased dramatically and many seniors are grappling with food insecurity, Meals on Wheels programs provide critical support. We are proud to work with our members to raise awareness of Meals on Wheels programs across the province as part of the March for Meals campaign.”
Throughout the month, special events and activities will be hosted by Meals on Wheels programs and communities across Ontario. March 18-22 is designated as Community Champions Week, when local public figures lend their support and help to deliver meals in their communities.
